EERI is currently accepting applications for those interested in serving as elected or appointed Directors on the EERI Board of Directors beginning in March 2025. The eleven-member EERI Board of Directors is the central decision-making body for the organization. The Board represents the interests of the membership and provides guidance and direction so that EERI can fulfill its mission and reflect its core values while maintaining accountability and fulfilling its responsibilities to the community, its members, and government.

The application deadline has been extended! Applications are now due July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. The 2024 Nominating Committee will review applications and finalists may be invited for an informal interview. Eligible applicants are Regular Members, Young Professional Members, Retired Members, Subscribing Members Representatives, and Honorary Members in good standing.
The Nominating Committee will identify four individuals for the two open Director positions to be candidates in the 2025 Board of Directors Election, which takes place in October 2024. The elected Directors will be announced in early December 2024. The EERI Board will select the appointed director in late 2024. The Director terms will begin at the first board meeting of 2025, typically in March. The term of service for elected and appointed Directors is two consecutive two-year terms at the mutual agreement of the Board member and President.
All applicants should carefully read the EERI Board Member Roles and Responsibilities document to learn more about the time commitment, legal obligations, and the desired qualities for each board member.
All eligible members interested in serving in the Director role are welcome to apply. Priority will be given to eligible members who fit any of the following criteria to maintain the diversity of the Board as a whole. An asterisk (*) indicates a special emphasis on that specific criteria.
- Represent the following employment sectors: business/industry, educational institutions.*
- Represent the following disciplines: structural engineering, lifelines, or risk analysis.*
- Interested in leveraging their connections to enhance member recruitment and engagement.*
- Experience or interest in fundraising and sponsor recruitment.*
- Interested in supporting the design and implementation of meetings/conferences for fiscal sustainability and mission impact.
- Interested in strategic planning and goal setting.
- Interested in amplifying or accelerating the work of EERI Chapters.
- Represent the following regions: Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Central US, or international.
- Enhances the board’s ethnic diversity.
- Identify as early and mid-career professionals.
- Recent involvement in EERI Committees or Regional Chapters.
To be considered, please submit a brief written statement (no more than 750 words total) and a CV or résumé using this form. The written statement should include the following items:
- Why are you interested in serving on the EERI Board?
- What accomplishments do you have that would help you succeed as an EERI Board Member?
- How will you fulfill the general desired qualities and desired characteristics for each Board Member? (See the EERI Board Member Roles and Responsibilities document.)
- What is your vision for the future of EERI?
- Is there anything else you would like the Nominating Committee to consider when reviewing your application?
