Sept 7, 2012 M5.6 Earthquake in Jiaokui, China

On September 07, 2012 at 11:30AM local time, a series of earthquakes rattled the area near Jiaokui in Yiliang County, 1km away from the epicenter. More than 60 aftershocks have been recorded. The moderate earthquakes were shallow, about 10km from the surface, and in conjunction with poor construction in rural areas resulted in more than 60 deaths with over 700 injured. There has been reports of landslides and the government reports over 30,000 homes were damaged or destroyed.
