EERI Has Two Post Graduate Internship Positions Open

The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) has two internships available for recent college graduates interested in gaining valuable relevant professional experience while supporting the Institute’s mission.

The four-to-six month positions will assist on a number of interesting EERI projects including the Concrete Coalition, World Housing Encyclopedia, the Learning from Earthquakes Program, the Mitigation Center and several new initiatives.  In addition the interns will help with other EERI activities such as technical seminars, meetings and various publications. Tasks are varied and include some website data entry and maintenance, data analysis and research, and basic organizational tasks.

Desirable education and background include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, architecture or public policy, some familiarity with issues in earthquake risk reduction, proficiency in Excel and WORD, some knowledge of website development and maintenance or willingness to learn, a flexible attitude towards work, initiative, curiosity, and strong interpersonal skills.  The interns will be provided monthly stipends ($1,200/month).

EERI Post Graduation internships are a great way to gain valuable professional experience, to be involved in meaningful projects related to seismic safety and to make critical contacts with others in the profession. The EERI office is located in downtown Oakland, close to BART and the freeway.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Preference is given to EERI members. Applications should be received by August 24th. Interviews will be conducted the week of September 4th. One position will then begin immediately; one will begin in October.  EERI would like a commitment of at least three months. New internship positions become available every four to six months.
